Daily Tour to South Plazas Island & Punta Carrión

Tour Duration: Approximately 8-9 hours

Itinerary Description

06:30 - 07:00 AM – Hotel Pick-up

• The tour begins with a transfer from your hotel in Puerto Ayora to the Itabaca Canal, where we will board the boat. The exact pick-up time will be confirmed at the time of booking.

08:00 AM – Departure to South Plazas Island

• Once on board, we set sail towards South Plazas Island, located east of Santa Cruz. During the navigation, you can enjoy soft drinks and light snacks while our certified naturalist guide provides information about the landscape, fauna, and ecosystem of the islands.

09:30 AM – Arrival at South Plazas Island

• We disembark on South Plazas Island, one of the most biodiverse sites in the archipelago. Here, we will take a guided walk along a scenic trail to observe:

• A large colony of Galápagos land iguanas feeding on prickly pear cacti.

• Sea lions resting on the cliffs.

• Magnificent frigatebirds, Nazca boobies, and swallow-tailed gulls.

• The striking red and green Sesuvium plants, which create a spectacular contrast with the blue sea.

11:30 AM – Snorkeling at Punta Carrión

• After exploring South Plazas, we head to Punta Carrión, a snorkeling site near the Itabaca Canal. Here, you can swim among:

• Tropical fish and schools of barracudas.

• White-tip reef sharks (harmless to humans).

• Sea turtles and rays.

01:00 PM – Lunch on Board

• A delicious lunch will be served on the boat while you enjoy the surrounding marine landscape.

02:30 PM – Return to the Itabaca Canal

• After lunch and some time to relax, we return to the Itabaca Canal.

04:00 - 05:00 PM – Arrival in Santa Cruz and Transfer to Your Hotel

• Upon arrival, our vehicles will take you back to your hotel in Puerto Ayora.
